Where We Are At

We are currently giving Volume 1 of the “Learn Crochet Now” video away for FREE.

Why would we want do to that? The main reason is that this is a brand-new product that is only now seeing the light of day. We want to know how a product like this will be received.

We think it is a pretty good product, but the reality of it is that what we think does not matter! What really matters is what you think!

Our product was created for people who don’t have any real experience with crochet and want to learn. Our research has confirmed our suspicions that using books and web sites with simple illustrations is not a very easy way to learn crochet.

Even with extensive illustrations, it is very difficult to learn a skill that requires so much movement from illustrations which do not move!

The “Learn Crochet Video” starts from scratch and assumes you know nothing about crochet. It takes you through the basics and by the time you are done with it, you will have created your very own washcloth and scarf. The video takes you through step-by-step and demonstrates it clearly.

At this point we do not know how long the video will be available for free. We are giving away as many copies as we think we need to get some decent feedback. We are hoping that the people who have downloaded their free copy of the video will be kind enough to come back to our website and fill out a short survey and tell us what they think of the product.

This will be the determining factor on whether we proceed and create new videos that will take viewers through more advanced crochet techniques and projects. And if we do decide to create new videos, the people who were kind enough to complete our survey will be given a free copy of the new video as well! It will be our way of saying “thanks” for sharing your thoughts and opinions with us.

“Learn Crochet Now” Blog Is Born

Blogs seem to be all the rage these days. And what a great way to deliver “the story behind the story,” so to speak. Here is a chance to read a little bit about how our “Learn Crochet Now” website and product came about.

A little bit about me: My name is Bende (pronounced: “Benda,” like Brenda without the “r”) I live in a small town in New Hampshire with my husband and my two boys. Since my husband was laid off from the high-tech industry, we’ve been talking a lot about what kind of business we might be able to set up. With my husband’s background in computers, we recently decided it would be some kind of Internet-based business.

The whole idea behind the “Learn Crochet Now” website and video products came about quite by accident. My husband and I were discussing some business ideas one evening as we sat in our living room. I was also crocheting at the time since it is a serious passion of mine and when I sit down in my usual “crochet spot,” my hands are usually busy with a new project!

At this point, one of us, and we are not even sure which one of us it was at this point, said something about creating some kind of product that could teach people how to crochet. At first we thought it might be an eBook, but then we latched onto the idea of creating a downloadable video.

My husband has a few computer-related tutorial videos that he has used to learn various programs and was very impressed with the effectiveness of the lessons and how easy it was to learn by watching someone demonstrate the program. He picked up on the programs much quicker and easier than he would have if he had been reading from a book or a help file.

This gave us the idea that a video might be a great way for people to learn how to crochet. There are of course, many videos available that teach crochet and many other skills, but we wondered, were any of them downloadable? Something that the user could download and start using immediately without going to the craft store or waiting for it to arrive in the mail.

We searched the Internet quite extensively and we found many instructional videos but none of them were downloadable. In this age of instant gratification where Internet users tend to “want it now,” we thought a downloadable instructional video might be a good idea.

At that point we set about making the video and the result is available from our main page, which can be seen at: www.learn-crochet-now.com
