Project 1, Sock Video Released!

15 April, 2005 (05:16) | General | No comments

Project 1 is the first in our new project series which will feature a different crochet project in each video. Each project video will take you step-by-step through the creation of a single crochet project.

Project 1 takes you through the creation of a sock. Socks are often considered one of the most difficult crochet projects to complete.

My husband and 2 boys are always asking for socks during our cold winters in NH. The kids like sliding across the kitchen floor in them too! LOL

I think project 2 will be a hat, since I’ve had a request for that. If you have any requests that you might like to see on video, drop me a line.

For more information on this video and others…click “LCN Home” at the top right of this page.

Well, I’ve completed the sunsuit I’ve been working on…I added some socks to go with the sunsuit! I was pleased with the way it came out.

I am now working on a paperback book cover that we are working on as a crochet along project in my Forum. It’s using a basket weave design and coming along nicely. If you’d like to visit my forum..you can click on “Forum” at the top right of the page…

Volume 4 Released!

11 April, 2005 (17:17) | General | No comments

After a bit of technical difficulty, Volume 4 has been released. We thank our customers for their patience. :)
I hope Volume 4 will help reading patterns a little easier, since they can be difficult to read and very confusing. If you get volume 4, and are still confused on a pattern, please feel free to contact me via email or through my forum, I will be glad to help you best I can.

If there is anything else you would like to see on a video….let us know, we are always open to suggestions.

I am working on a baby’s sunsuit, and I have to tell you, those directions were terrible. They really didn’t word it very well at all. It took me a little time, but I figured it out and it is looking really cute. I will post a picture when I’m finished. Until then……….Happy Crocheting :)

Volume 4 and More

9 April, 2005 (10:20) | General | No comments

Well, we have finished shooting Volume 4 which deals with reading patterns. Patterns are so difficult to understand so I wanted to make it a little easier for everyone to understand. So I took the more common directions and explained them and also showed them when possible. This should make things a little easier to understand. I also added abbreviations and what they mean so reading and understanding those will help. It makes a big difference knowing what the abbreviations stand for.

We also finished shooting a sock video. In this video, you will crochet along with me making a sock. Socks are one of the harder items to make. Following along with this video will be so much easier and when you’re done, I know you will want to make more. They make GREAT gifts for family and friends. I know my husband and sons are ALWAYS asking me to make them! You can see a picture of these socks on the previous post. We hope to have the videos published this weekend or early next week! Stay tuned!

I just finished a poncho for my mother. She saw mine (pictured in a previous post) and asked me to please make her one. So I did:

She will be going to Maine to stay with her best friend for the summer, so I wanted to make something for her friend’s grandchildren. One of the girls will be getting the granny square poncho and hat to match (pictured in previous post), and I made the toddler a poncho last night:

This poncho works up really quickly.

In my forum, we’ve been doing a crochet along. We’ve been working on a granny square purse. If you’d like to see everyone’s purse..you can hop over to the forum. Here is my bag I just finished last night! Can you tell I’ve been very busy.. :)

Happy Crocheting!

New Video in the Works

31 March, 2005 (09:17) | General | No comments

We will be working on Vol. 4 of our Learn Crochet Now Videos. This video will concentrate on “How to Read a Pattern”. It will give examples of what the pattern says, and how to interpret it and how to do it. Once you learn the basic pattern “lingo”, it will be easier for you to be able to try alot of different projects. I also have some “crochet along” videos that I’m thinking of doing. One will be a sock video since I know there’s alot of people that are intimidated with making socks….as I once was. Socks can be hard and confusing…so having a video to follow, I think, would be a big help to alot of newer crocheters. Here’s a pair that I just finished.

We’ve been getting alot of great feedback from our customers and are so pleased that they are enjoying the videos. So many have said that they’ve tried to learn crochet from books and just couldn’t do it,and with the videos, they were crocheting immediately. That makes me feel soooo good. I’m creating more crochet addicts and I love it!!! :)

If you are a crochet lover, I’d love to have you visit my Forum. It’s alot of fun, and we’re doing a sock along starting today! Click on Crochet Happy Forum at the top left of this page to get to my forum!

As for my projects, I’ve finished the “Freedom” Poncho and I was pleased with the way it came out. This is the first item I’ve ever made for myself! It’s very warm!

Right now, I am working on another poncho for a video project. Stay tuned!

Martha’s “Freedom” Poncho

23 March, 2005 (11:08) | General | No comments

Well, we’ve started the Poncho Crochet Along in my Crochet Happy Forum: http://www.learn-crochet-now.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi

I’ve decided to do the Martha’s “Freedom” Poncho and I picked the Lion Brand’s
version since that is the one I like the best.

I’m using the Lion Brand Homespun yarn and the color is called Baroque.
It’s a really pretty color!

We are getting more orders for the DVD’s of the Learn Crochet Now Videos.
But so far, it seems the downloadable video is the biggest seller to date. If you
want to learn to crochet too, you can find all the information at: http://www.learn-crochet-now.com/ It’s such a fun pastime and so rewarding when a project is done!

Well, back to my poncho!

More to Come

13 March, 2005 (12:03) | General | No comments

Well, it seems everyone is enjoying their video. We received some nice comments. I’m so glad it’s helping everyone to learn to crochet. It also seemed like alot of people wanted the video on CD’s. So we have that question up on the home page, and so far, it looks like there is a demand. So, we are looking into this possibility and we will let you know when we have made a decision.

We also seem to be getting some lurkers into our new forum! Hopefully they’ll decide to become members. I hope everyone will enjoy the forum. It’s a great place to meet new people who have a love of crochet. It’s also a great place to get help, find patterns, and see what other crocheters out there are doing. I LOVE seeing projects that people are making! You can visit the forum at: http://www.learn-crochet-now.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi I’d love for you to stop by and say “Hey”!

We are almost done with the Granny Square video. We hope to have it out early this week. We also want to let everyone know there will be a third video coming out in the very near future. That will be concentrating on alot of the crochet stitches out there that you see in patterns, but can’t figure out by looking at pictures. There are many different kind of stitches that you can use to make beautiful projects. So, keep your eyes open for that video as well!

Happy Crocheting!

Up and Running!

9 March, 2005 (16:19) | General | No comments

Now that the video has been released, the forum and the chat are up and running. I hope that you all stop by and join in on the fun.

We received some feedback from people that have downloaded the Learn Crochet Now Vol 1. video and I was happy to hear that they were pleased with it. They find it very easy to follow, especially after trying to learn from written instructions and pictures. I was very pleased.

Today we finished filming the second video. This video will teach the granny square. It will go over the basic stitches and show in detail how a granny square is made, and how to assemble the squares together. It will also show how to change colors to make a multi-colored granny square.

Once you learn to make granny squares, there are so many projects and patterns that are available with granny squares. The poncho and hat set I made and showed in the last two posts are just two examples of things that can be done with granny squares.

We are hoping to have the granny square video released this weekend or early next week!

Happy Crocheting!
